Detroit Lake is a lake, locally known as Big Detroit and Little Detroit, has two distinct basins that are separated by a shallow gravel bar. At 3,067 acres, Detroit Lake is the largest lake within the Pelican River Watershed District and lies entirely within the city of Detroit Lakes , Minnesota municipal boundaries.

Becker County became a county on March 18, 1858. It was named for George Loomis Becker, [4] one of three men elected to Congress when Minnesota became a state. Since Minnesota could only send two, Becker elected to stay behind, and he was promised to have a county named after him. Colonel George Johnston founded the city of Detroit Lakes in 1871
U.S. Highway 10 (US 10) is a major divided highway for almost all of its length in the U.S. state of Minnesota.The route runs through the central portion of the state, following generally the alignment of the former Northern Pacific Railway (now BNSF Railway) and connects the cities of Moorhead, Detroit Lakes, Wadena, Little Falls, St. Cloud, Anoka, Saint Paul, and Cottage Grove.

KDLM also broadcasts Sunday Night and Monday Night football from Westwood One.
