Sunset Boulevard is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and lyrics and libretto by Don Black and Christopher Hampton.It is based on the 1950 film.. The plot revolves around Norma Desmond, a faded star of the silent screen era, living in the past in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street.
In 2024, she was the alternate to Sarah Brightman's Norma Desmond in the Australian production of Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard in Melbourne and Sydney, garnering better reviews than Brightman. [10]
She took the role of standby to Glenn Close as Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard in the Los Angeles production in 1993, and went on to play almost 300 performances over two years both in Los Angeles and on Broadway. [2] [11] She originated the role of Tanya in Mamma Mia!, playing the role from October 5, 2001 to October 6, 2002. [12]
In 2024, this show felt like an ode to those women, and some men, who found the courage to stand up against abusers and take the side of the young and vulnerable.
