Stuart F. Meyer (October 23, 1933 – May 21, 2001) [1] was a Major League Baseball executive. He served as president of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1992 to 1994. He has also worked for the Anheuser-Busch from 1959 to 1995.
Meyer was the fourth of seven children in his home and the only one to become a religious brother. His sister was Rita Meyer (baseball). He was raised in Old Town Florissant, a suburb of St. Louis, by his parents, Harry and Margaret Meyer. [3] He graduated from McBride High School, taught by members of the Marianist order.
He served on the boards of the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Symphony, and the Municipal Opera, and received many honorary degrees and awards. In 1988 he was chosen as the St. Louis Man of the Year. [Final Resting Place, p. 145] Hyland was the man who brought the Big Red Line Cheerleaders to the St Louis Football Cardinals Organization. [3]
August Meyer was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on August 20, 1851. His father was Heinrich Peter Meyer (1815–1864), and his mother was Anna Catharina Margaretha Kraft (1812–1898). [1] They were residents of Hamburg, Germany, and immigrated to the United States before their marriage on July 29, 1844, in St. Louis, Missouri.
