One O'Clock Lab Band is an ensemble of the Jazz Studies division at the University of North Texas College of Music in Denton, Texas. Since the 1970s, the band's albums have received seven Grammy Award nominations, including two for Lab 2009 .

North Texas was first in the world to offer a degree in jazz studies. [ 17 ] [ 20 ] U.S. News & World Report ranked the jazz studies program as the best in the country every year from 1994, when it began ranking graduate jazz programs, to 1997, when it retired the category. [ 21 ]
Anshel Brusilow (1928-2018) returned to conduct the UNT Symphony and teach conducting, filling the longest artistic appointment of his life. Before returning, he had served as Professor and Director of the Symphony Orchestra at Southern Methodist University. His tenure at North Texas was highly acclaimed and spanned 28 years. 2008–present
