Gau (/ ɡ aʊ / ⓘ; Japanese: ガウ) is a character introduced in the 1994 role-playing video game Final Fantasy VI by Square Enix.A feral child, Gau was raised by animals in the game's Veldt location after his father abandoned him as an infant, and later develops a familial bond with the characters Cyan and Sabin after they offer him food.
Like previous installments, Final Fantasy VI consists of four basic modes of gameplay: an overworld map, town and dungeon field maps, a battle screen, and a menu screen. The overworld map is a scaled-down version of the game's world, which the player uses to direct characters to various locations.
