The number in the engine code gives the approximate displacement of the engine. e.g. B18A would have an approximate displacement of 1.8L, H22A1 would have an approximate displacement of 2.2L. The LG5 ("V-code") was a special 3.1 L (3,135 cc) turbocharged engine produced with McLaren for the 1989 and 1990 model years. It featured the same multiport fuel injection intake manifolds and throttle body as the LH0, and produced 205 hp (153 kW) at 5200 rpm and 225 lb⋅ft (305 N⋅m) of torque at 2100 rpm.

The 1970 model year Camaro had a 250 hp (186 kW) high-performance two-barrel Rochester carburetor. In 1971, it dropped to 245 hp (183 kW), and net performance further dropped to 165 hp (123 kW) for 1972 and 145 hp (108 kW) for 1973–1976. It was basically the two-barrel version of the L48 350. It was produced until the 1976 model year.
Since the engine was similar to the popular small-block Buick V8—now with a cast-iron block and displacement of 300 cu in (4.9 L), the engine was made cheaply at the same factory with much of the same tooling. This engine carried the RPO code KH for the 1964 model year and LH for 1965. In 1966, the code was MH and was renamed the Wildcat V-6.
