Schlage (/ ʃ l eɪ ɡ / SHLAYG) [1] [2] is an American lock manufacturer founded in 1920 by Walter Schlage. Schlage was headquartered in San Francisco from its inception until it relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1997. Schlage also produces high-security key and cylinder lines Primus, Everest, and Everest Primus XP.
The Schlage Lock Company was incorporated with a starting capital of $30. [7] In the same year, he applied for a patent for a lock that could be drilled into a door with only two holes. [ 3 ] [ 8 ] This new cylindrical lock had a single plate, serving as both escutcheon and striker plate, wrapping around the door's edge.
Prior to remote keyless systems (RKS), several manufacturers offered keypad systems which did not allow "remote entry" per se, but allowed a user to enter a vehicle without a key by entering a code on a multi-button keypad on the driver door or pillar — to unlock the driver door.
A six-pin interchangeable core with an 'A' keyway and individual chamber capping in an ANSI/BHMA 626 satin chrome finish. An interchangeable core or IC is an adaptable locking key cylinder, which can be rapidly exchanged in the field via the use of specialized "control keys".
Simple remote control systems use a fixed code word; the code word that opens the gate today will also open the gate tomorrow. An attacker with an appropriate receiver could discover the code word and use it to gain access sometime later. More sophisticated remote control systems use a rolling code (or hopping code) that changes for every use.
The tapered key is tapered only on the side that engages the hub. The keyway in the hub has a taper that matches that of the tapered key. Some taper keys have a gib, or tab, for easy removal during disassembly. The purpose of the taper is to secure the key itself, as well as to firmly engage the shaft to the hub without the need for a set screw.
A common type of internal broach is the keyway broach (C & D). It uses a special fixture called a horn to support the broach and properly locate the part with relation to the broach. [9] A concentricity broach is a special type of spline cutting broach which cuts both the minor diameter and the spline form to ensure precise concentricity.
