Bexar County (/ b ɛər / BAIR or / ˈ b eɪ ər / ⓘ BAY-ər; Spanish: Béxar) [1] [2] is a county in the U.S. state of Texas.It is in South Texas and its county seat is San Antonio. [3]As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,009,324, making it the state's fourth-most populous county.
In 2020, the most populated counties which had a Hispanic majority were Miami-Dade County, Florida (population 2.70 million), San Bernardino County, California (population 2.18 million), Bexar County, Texas (population 2.01 million), Bronx County, New York (population 1.47 million), and Fresno County, California (population 1.01 million).
Part of the county's territory went to Del Norte County in 1857, and in 1874 the remainder was divided between Humboldt and Siskiyou counties. Pautah County, California was created in 1852 out of territory which, the state of California assumed, was to be ceded to it by the United States Congress from territory in what is now the state of Nevada.
