Famous Monsters of Filmland is an American genre-specific film magazine, started in 1958 by publisher James Warren and editor Forrest J Ackerman. Famous Monsters of Filmland directly inspired the creation of many other similar publications, including Castle of Frankenstein , Cinefantastique , Fangoria , The Monster Times , and Video Watchdog .
Gogos' first work for Warren was the cover of Famous Monsters of Filmland #9 in 1960 featuring a portrait of Vincent Price from House of Usher painted in shades of red, yellow and green. Over the next two decades, he created almost 50 covers for Famous Monsters, many of which have become iconic images of that period.
A model kit company called Billikin put out several kits in the late 1980s based on some of Blaisdell's creature creations, including the monsters from It Conquered the World, The She-Creature and Invasion of the Saucer Men. (Later, a rival company produced a model kit based on the mutant in Day the World Ended as well.)
