As such, the tournament was officially renamed the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 2007. Until 2018, the format was a round robin of 12 teams. Starting with the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts there have been more than twelve eligible teams; therefore a pre-qualification tournament was held to trim the field to twelve.
Beginning in 1986, the national Tournament of Hearts champion automatically earned a berth for the following years' national championship as "Team Canada". The first Manitoba team to play as "Team Canada" at the Hearts was Connie Laliberte in 1993. A Wildcard entry was added in 2018, which was expanded to three entries in 2021.
The 2024 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Northern Ontario women's curling championship, was held from January 25 to 28 at the NEMI Recreation Complex in Little Current, Ontario. [1] The event was held in conjunction with the 2024 Northern Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championship, the provincial men's championship.
