Tongji University Shen Zuyan ( Chinese : 沈祖炎 ; pinyin : Shěn Zǔyán ; June 5, 1935 – October 11, 2017) was a Chinese structural engineer known for his studies on structural steel . He served as Vice President of Tongji University and was an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering .
He was a visiting scholar at California State University between 1989 and 1990, a visiting research fellow at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1993, and research fellow at the University of Birmingham from 1996 to 1997.
