Photographic emulsion is a light-sensitive colloid used in film-based photography. Most commonly, in silver-gelatin photography , it consists of silver halide crystals dispersed in gelatin . The emulsion is usually coated onto a substrate of glass , films (of cellulose nitrate , cellulose acetate or polyester ), paper, or fabric.
Photographic printing is the process of producing a final image on paper for viewing, using chemically sensitized paper. The paper is exposed to a photographic negative , a positive transparency (or slide ) , or a digital image file projected using an enlarger or digital exposure unit such as a LightJet or Minilab printer.
There are two versions of the E-6 process. Commercial laboratories use a six-bath chemical process. The 'hobby' type chemistry kits, such as those produced by Tetenal, use three chemical baths that combine the color developer and fogging (reversal) bath solutions, and the pre-bleach, bleach and fixer bath solutions.
In some old processes, the film emulsion was hardened during the process, typically before the bleach. Such a hardening bath often used aldehydes, such as formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde. In modern processing, these hardening steps are unnecessary because the film emulsion is sufficiently hardened to withstand the processing chemicals.
Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink (or dye) onto a substrate, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking stencil.A blade or squeegee is moved across the screen in a "flood stroke" to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the substrate momentarily along a line of contact.
Art photography print types refers to the process and paper of how the photograph is printed and developed. C-Print / Chromogenic Print: A C-Print is the traditional way of printing using negatives or slides, an enlarger, and photographic paper—through a process of exposure and emulsive chemical layers. Chromogenic color prints are composed ...

Contact print of a photo film cut in pieces, used for reviewing and selecting images for the final print. Photo by Paolo Monti, 1975. Contact printing is a simple and inexpensive process. Its simplicity avails itself to those who may want to try darkroom processing without buying an enlarger.
