Nigel Allan Havers (born 6 November 1951) [1] is an English actor and presenter. His film roles include Lord Andrew Lindsay in the 1981 British film Chariots of Fire, which earned him a BAFTA nomination; as Dr. Rawlins in the 1987 Steven Spielberg war drama Empire of the Sun; and as Ronny in the 1984 David Lean epic A Passage to India.
Simon Williams was born in Windsor in 1946. [1] His parents were the actor Hugh Williams and the actress and model Margaret Vyner. [2] His sister Polly, an actress, married his Don't Wait Up co-star and friend Nigel Havers. She died in 2004. [3] His brother is the poet Hugo Williams. Williams was educated at Harrow School. [4]
Hugh Anthony Glanmor Williams (nicknamed "Tam") was born at Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex to Hugh Dafydd Anthony Williams (1869-1905) and Hilda (née Lewis). The Williams family lived at Bedford Park, in Chiswick, West London. His paternal grandfather was Hugh Williams (1796-1874), a Welsh solicitor and anti-establishment political activist.

Williams was born in 1942 in Windsor, Berkshire. He was the eldest child of the actor and playwright Hugh Williams and his second wife, the model, actress and playwright Margaret Vyner. His brother is the actor Simon Williams. His sister Polly, an actress, died of cancer in 2004 at the age of 54. [1]
