The Western Cape Department of Transport and Public Works is a department of the Government of the Western Cape.It is responsible for the development of the transport system in the Western Cape province of South Africa, and for constructing and maintaining buildings and other structures for the other departments of the provincial government.
In 1994, the Cape Province was subdivided into three provinces (Western, Eastern and Northern Cape provinces). The Eastern and Northern Cape changed their licensing system so the Cape Province registration prefixes used there, like CB ( Port Elizabeth ) and CC ( Kimberley ), were dropped.

The Executive Council of the Western Cape is the cabinet of the executive branch of the provincial government in the South African province of the Western Cape.The Members of the Executive Council (MECs) are appointed from among the members of the Western Cape Provincial Legislature by the Premier of the Western Cape, an office held since the 2019 general election by Alan Winde.
