The University of Palangka Raya (Indonesian: Universitas Palangka Raya, UPR) is a state university located in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, in the Republic of Indonesia. The university was established on November 10, 1963, and is the first and the oldest state university in Central Kalimantan.

It was a private university founded by the Methodist Church of Indonesia (GMI) in accordance with the decision of the annual conference which took place in Medan on 31 January 1965. Preparation of UMI officially began on August 1, 1965.
The idea for a university was first floated during the 1952 General Synod of the HKBP. After two years of preparation, the university was inaugurated on the premises of the former Pantoan Hospital in the highland town of Pematangsiantar on 7 October 1954 with three faculties; Law, Economics, and Theology; and an enrolment of 36 students.
