Texas County is a county located in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census , the population was 24,487. [ 2 ] Its county seat is Houston . [ 3 ]
At the time of the 2000 census, Texas County was one of the poorer counties in the state. The median income for a household in the city was $17,576, and the median income for a family was $25,625. Males had a median income of $24,643 versus $17,153 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,802.
The first Missouri State Fair was held September 9–13 in 1901. One of the most distinctive aspects of the early fairs was the "white city": the 24 acres (97,000 m 2) of tents, each for rent by exhibitors. Odessa Ice Cream was the official ice cream at the Missouri State Fair in the 1930s. [3]: 9
Raymondville is located in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. The town is in central Texas County on Missouri routes 137 and B, approximately six miles east of Houston. Yukon is about five miles south and Licking is about ten miles north on route 137.

Pierce Township is a township in Texas County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] Pierce Township was first called "Jack's Fork Township", and under the latter name was established in 1852, and named after the creek of the same name within its borders. [2] The present name, adopted in 1854, honors J. W. Pierce, a pioneer citizen. [2]
