Fontana is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Founded by Azariel Blanchard Miller in 1913, [ 1 ] it remained essentially rural until World War II , when entrepreneur Henry J. Kaiser built a large steel mill in the area.
Kaiser Fontana Medical Center is a large Kaiser Permanente medical facility and 420-bed hospital in Fontana, California. [1] Built in 1955 to replace the smaller hospital at the Kaiser Steel Mill, the facility now serves over 400,000 members of Kaiser Permanente's health care plans in the area.
The heavily Latino district was anchored by Fontana, while Rialto and San Bernardino also comprised sizable portions of its population. Following redistricting in 2021, the district became centered around the Coachella Valley in Riverside County and the High Desert in San Bernardino County.
