Cumulative songs are popular for group singing, in part because they require relatively little memorization of lyrics, and because remembering the previous verse to concatenate it to form the current verse can become a kind of game.
[2] The list of songs that follows include songs that deal with schooling as a primary subject as well as those that make significant use of schools, classrooms, students or teachers as imagery, or are used in school-related activities. The songs are examples of the types of themes and issues addressed by such songs.
Kentucky high school students are provided the opportunity to participate in the Kentucky All-State Choruses [SATB, SSAA, TTBB]. For elementary and middle school children, KMEA offers the Kentucky Children's Chorus for grades 5–6, and two Kentucky Junior High Choruses for grades 7–9: a treble chorus and a mixed chorus.

The Chorus will perform an encore of the music they sang in New York at 3 p.m., March 24, at First Baptist Church of Savannah on historic Chippewa Square.
For many high school students, show choir is a large commitment that takes over a large part of a school year. For some, show choir is part of the school curriculum and is a class taught during the day. [16] For others, it is an extracurricular activity that requires practice to take place before or after school. [17]
Students at the middle school level have the opportunity to be involved in Band, Chorus, Show choir, Art, a variety of technology based classes and school sports teams. In addition, each day begins with enrichment classes that allow students to participate in targeted math, reading, and project based learning activities.
The middle and high school offers Band (i.e., learning a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument), Orchestra (i.e., learning violin, viola, cello, or double bass), and Chorus (i.e., singing in a choir) while the elementary schools begin instruction in 5th grade. All of the music groups perform concerts.
