The WAC tournament will be held in March 2025 with all nine teams competing for the automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. The opening round will be held at Burns Arena in St. George, Utah with the remaining rounds at the Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas-area community of Paradise, Nevada.

Between 1951 and 1952, there were sixteen teams in the tournament, so all could claim a Sweet Sixteen appearance. In 1985, the tournament expanded to 64 teams, eliminating all byes and play-ins. For the first time, all teams had to win six games to win the tournament. In 1975, the tournament expanded to 32 teams and eliminated byes for top seeds, to accommodate the additional games eight sites hosted first round games. Between 1979 and 1985, the tournament gradually expanded to a 64-team field with a full, sixth round, creating the modern First and Second Rounds hosted at eight sites.
