Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. The structure built by the Ancestral Puebloans is located in Mesa Verde National Park in their former homeland region. The cliff dwelling and park are in Montezuma County , in the southwestern corner of Colorado , in the Southwestern United States .

Ancestral Puebloans spanned Northern Arizona and New Mexico, Southern Colorado and Utah, and a part of Southeastern Nevada. They primarily lived north of the Patayan, Sinagua, Hohokam, Trincheras, Mogollon, and Casas Grandes cultures of the Southwest [1] and south of the Fremont culture of the Great Basin.
Lamb Spring was an early to late Paleo-Indian site in Colorado, with Megafauna bison antiquus, camelops, mammoth and horse remains. [ 4 ] Mammoth bones at the Lamb Spring site may pre-date the earliest known human culture, the Clovis culture , which flourished 11,000-13,000 years ago.
