Brandt's mountain finch (Leucosticte brandti), also known as the black-headed mountain-finch, is a species of finch in the family Fringillidae. It is found in Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Its natural habitat is temperate grassland.
The mountain finches are birds in the genus Leucosticte from the true finch family, Fringillidae. This genus also includes the rosy finches , named from their pinkish plumage. The genus is a sister to the monotypic Procarduelis containing the Asian dark-breasted rosefinch . [ 2 ]
