Pre-medical (often referred to as pre-med) is an educational track that undergraduate students mostly in the United States pursue prior to becoming medical students. It involves activities that prepare a student for medical school , such as pre-med coursework, volunteer activities, clinical experience, research, and the application process.
Postbaccalaureate programs are reserved for students who are working toward a second entry degree. These programs are offered for those who already have a first undergraduate degree . [ 1 ] Post Baccalaureate programs are not considered traditional graduate education , but their standing is typically more advanced than a bachelor's degree. [ 2 ]
Bennington college offers the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in multiple disciplines and the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program. [49] Previously an MAT or BA/MAT was offered in Education through the Center for Creative Teaching, until discontinued around 2012.

Combination programs granting a bachelor's degree and medical degree are relatively rare in the US. Baccalaureate-MD programs opened for the first time in 1961 at Northwestern University Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. By the 1990s, 34 programs had opened, and in 2011, these programs were offered at 57 medical schools.
Academic certificates and a post-baccalaureate pre-medical certificate are also offered. Established by then-university President A. Lawrence Lowell, [4] [5] HES was commissioned to extend [6] education, equivalent in academic rigor to traditional Harvard programs, to non-traditional and part-time students, as well as lifelong learners.

These programs include the Premedical/Predental Enrichment Program (PREP), Summer Medical Dental Education Program (SMDEP), and the Re-Application Post baccalaureate Program (RAP). Application deadlines are March 1 for the PREP and SMDEP programs, while the RAP program has a deadline of May 15. [9]
