The Mount Rowan Campus, formerly called the Wendouree Campus of Ballarat Secondary College, is located on the site of the original Wendouree High Technical School (later Wendouree Secondary College), which was built in 1978 at the corner of Forest Street and Giot Drive, Wendouree. Since 2017, this campus educates students from Years 7 to 12.
Ballarat and Queen's Anglican Grammar School's main campus is located in Ballarat, on the corner of Howitt and Forest streets, Wendouree. The expansive campus stretches as far north as Norman Street, and west towards Dare Street. Both the Senior School and Junior School are situated on the same campus, sharing many facilities and resources.

On 6 September 2013, the Victorian Parliament passed legislation to establish Federation University Australia, [16] The name change officially began in 2014. The then Vice-Chancellor justified the name change as an attempt to broaden the reach of the university nationally and internationally, and in fairness to the campuses outside Ballarat. [17]
