A drawworks is the primary hoisting machinery component of a rotary drilling rig.Its main function is to provide a means of raising and lowering the traveling block. The wire-rope drill line winds on the drawworks drum and over the crown block to the traveling block, allowing the drill string to be moved up and down as the drum turns.
Suction line (#3) is an intake line for the mud pump to draw drilling fluid from the mud tanks. Swivel (#18) is the top end of the kelly that allows the rotation of the drill string without twisting the block. Traveling block (#11) is the moving end of the block and tackle. Together, they give a significant mechanical advantage for lifting.
The Golden Driller is a 76-foot-tall (23 m), 43,500-pound (19,700 kg) [1] statue in Tulsa, Oklahoma, depicting an oil worker. The structure is a steel frame covered with concrete and plaster. [ 2 ] It is the seventh-tallest statue in the United States and has been located in front of the Tulsa Expo Center since 1966.

Pumper: A worker whose job is to monitor and maintain active oil and gas wells. Rat hole: A hole on the drilling rig floor used to store the kelly and swivel. Roughneck: an honor reserved for the top tier members of a drilling crew. Sidetrack: A planned deviation from a previously drilled section of the wellbore.
Burning of natural gases at an oil drilling site, presumably at Pangkalan Brandan, East Coast of Sumatra – circa 1905 Anglo-Persian Oil Company workers, 1908. The earliest known oil wells were drilled in China in 347 CE. These wells had depths of up to about 240 metres (790 ft) and were drilled using bits attached to bamboo poles. [3]
A pumpjack is the overground drive for a reciprocating piston pump in an oil well. [1] It is used to mechanically lift liquid out of the well if there is not enough bottom hole pressure for the liquid to flow all the way to the surface. The arrangement is often used for onshore wells. Pumpjacks are common in oil-rich areas.
