The Fool is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Warpaint, released on October 25, 2010, on Rough Trade Records. [1] The album was recorded at two studios—Curves Studio and The Boat Studio—in the band's native Los Angeles, California, throughout 2010 and was produced by Tom Biller, who also shared mixing duties with Andrew Weatherall and Adam Samuels.
Mary Pennington (Updike) Weatherall (January 26, 1930 - February 25, 2018) was a visual artist and the first wife of John Updike. Many of Updike's early characters were modeled after her, particularly in his short stories about the Maple family and his novel Couples .
"Undertow" is a song by the American indie rock band Warpaint. It is the third track and lead single from the band's debut studio album The Fool, and was released on September 21, 2010, on Rough Trade Records.
David Pollock of The List wrote, "With Weatherall himself singing as if from the heart of a smoke-filled room (and perhaps he was), the album explores dancehall, ambient dub, electro and post-punk in building an atmospheric soundtrack for the city at night." [7] Iain Moffat of The Quietus called it "the most song-based work of his career."
