Waukesha County Airport covers an area of 577 acres (234 ha) and contains two runways: the primary runway 10/28 with a concrete pavement measuring 5,849 x 100 ft (1,783 x 30 m) and the crosswind runway 18/36 with an asphalt surface measuring 3,599 x 75 ft (1,097 x 23 m).
The original airfield was established in 1920 as Hamilton Airport by local business owner and aviator, Thomas F. Hamilton. Milwaukee County purchased the land on October 19, 1926, and renamed the airport Milwaukee County Airport. [6] The first airport terminal there, the Hirschbuehl Farmhouse, opened in July 1927.
