The HAL Prachand (lit. ' Giant ' or ' Intense ' ) is an Indian multi-role light attack helicopter designed and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) under Project Light Combat Helicopter (LCH). [ 4 ]
[35] [36] On 1 June 2022, an attack squadron composed of HAL Prachand was raised. A total of seven squadrons of Prachand are planned with ten helicopters in each one. [37] On 15 March 2024, an attack squadron was raised at Jodhpur, which will be equipped with Boeing AH-64 Apache.
It is the first unit to be equipped with the indigenously developed HAL Prachand attack helicopter. [2] The unit was raised on 1 June 2022 and started receiving the initial lot of helicopters from 18 July, 2022. The unit officially inducted 4 HAL Prachand on 3 October, 2022. [3]
By late 2007, HAL started fitting the Shakti for Dhruvs produced from then. The Ardiden 3G was certified in June 2017 and by 2018, 250 Ardiden 1 were in service. [ 2 ] By September 2019, the Ardiden 1 engines had completed 200,000 flying hours, and the Ardiden 3C/3G had completed over 10,000 hours of tests.
