The UNCG Baseball Team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team for the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) in Greensboro, North Carolina.The team is a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon), which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)'s Division I.
The UNCG Baseball Stadium is a baseball venue located on the campus of UNCG in Greensboro, North Carolina. The stadium is home to the UNC Greensboro Spartans baseball team, which is a member of the Southern Conference (SoCon). The stadium has a capacity of 3,500 spectators and opened in 1999. [1]
In practice, Wake Forest played most of its ACC games during this period at the Coliseum. From the 1960s to the 1980s, North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State frequently played neutral-site games at the Coliseum, as it was the state's largest arena at the time. The Tar Heels still occasionally play a neutral-site game here, as late as 2012.
The baseball team defeated top-ranked North Carolina, 7–6, in front of a crowd of 1,835. On February 20, 2024, UNCG beat No.1 Wake Forest, 4-3. On March 12, 2024, UNCG beat No.13 NC State, 18-3.
In regular season play, UNC Greensboro won the outright SoCon regular season title by one game. The eight SoCon baseball coaches voted Caleb Cozart of UNC Greensboro as 2024 SoCon Player of the Year, while the SoCon Sports Media Association voted Cameron Sisneros of East Tennessee State as 2024 SoCon Baseball Player of the Year.
