Dr. Martens, also known as Doc Martens, Docs, or DMs, [2] is a British footwear and clothing brand, headquartered in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, England. Although most known for its footwear, the company also makes a range of accessories including clothing and bags.
NPS Shoes continued to make footwear under licence until the mid-1990s called 'Dr Martens made by Solovair'. William Maximillian Griggs (September 1938 – 8 July 2021) was the president of the R Griggs Group, owner of the Dr. Martens company, and one of the largest shoe manufacturers in the United Kingdom. According to the 2019 Sunday Times Rich List Griggs and his son Stephen were worth £264 million. [1]
On 21 April 1992 it was announced that the club was to merge with nearby UCL club Irthlingborough Diamonds to form a new club, Rushden & Diamonds. The merge was the brainchild of Max Griggs, the owner of Dr. Martens, and saw the new club play at Irthlingborough's Nene Park. [1]
