St. Thomas, Subdistricts, towns, and CDPs. Red Hook is a suburban port census-designated place (CDP) located on the east side of Saint Thomas in the East End subdistrict. [2] It is the least populated town or CDP in the Virgin Islands with a population of 225 according to the 2020 Census.
The 20-minute ferry ride to Cruz Bay on the island of St. John, which is a part of the Virgin Islands National Park, leaves the town of Red Hook. [6] Other ferry destinations from Red Hook include the islands of Tortola and Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, as well as St. Croix. [7]

Car barges also run between Cruz Bay and Red Hook. Water Island can be reached from Crown Bay, Saint Thomas. There is a once daily ferry between Charlotte Amalie and Gallows Bay, Saint Croix.
