Pigeon Forge is a mountain resort city in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States.As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 6,343.Situated just 5 miles (8 km) north of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pigeon Forge is a tourist destination that caters primarily to Southern culture and country music fans.
Opened in May 2001 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Dolly's Splash Country is an addition to the Dollywood Company's theme park. The park is built into the natural terrain of a 25-acre mountainous area adjacent to the main Dollywood theme park. The park was a $20 million investment ($34.4 million in 2023 dollars [3]) by the Dollywood Company.
The theme park is the anchor of Parton's 150-acre (61 ha) Dollywood amusement destination, which also includes the 35-acre (14 ha) sister water park Dollywood's Splash Country, the 20-acre (8.1 ha) Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa, [3] and the 5-acre (2.0 ha) Dolly Parton's Stampede Dinner Attraction.
Chasing Rainbows opened in 2002 as a part of the "Adventures in Imagination" area of the Dollywood park. [2] The museum was in part designed by Dolly Parton's creative director, Steve Summers. [3] The building was originally built in 1996 and opened as the Silver Screen Cafe and was converted to DJ Platters in 1997.
