Limerick railway station also known as Colbert Station (Irish: Stáisiún Uí Cholbáird) or Limerick Colbert serves the city of Limerick in County Limerick, Ireland. It is on Parnell Street and is the main station on the Limerick Suburban Rail network. It has approximately 2,500 rail passengers a day travelling on four rail routes.

The station is located in the townland of Ballykisteen, County Tipperary, Ireland, in the county's historical barony of Clanwilliam. [4] It is 21 miles (34 km) from Limerick City, 107 miles (172 km) from Dublin Heuston, [5] and 58 + 1 ⁄ 4 miles (93.7 km) from Cork. [6]
The direct curve into Limerick Colbert was closed and lifted in September 1975, while ground frames connecting the Castlemungret and Foynes lines were removed in the 1980s, leaving the lines operationally separate. [3] Goods trains to Foynes ceased in November 2000, [3] and in May 2002 the last train, a weed sprayer, moved on the line. [4]
The success of the Colbert character landed him his own political talk show in 2005. He remained in character on The Colbert Report throughout its nine-year run.
