Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC) and Stewart Conservation Camp (SCC) are part of a prison complex located in Carson City. The correctional center was established in 1964 and is managed by the Nevada Department of Corrections. [1] The medium security center housed 1,444 male and 9 female inmates as of September 2010. [3]
The prison has seven housing units used for Michigan Department of Corrections male prisoners 18 years of age and older. A 120-bed unit houses Level I (low security) prisoners.
The death row for women is in the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center (previously Southern Nevada Women's Correctional Center). [7] The execution chamber at Ely State Prison opened in 2016. [8] Previously it was located in a former gas chamber in Nevada State Prison in Carson City. Nevada executes inmates via lethal injection. [4]
