Heidelberg University is a private university in Tiffin, Ohio, United States. Founded in 1850, it was known as Heidelberg College until 1889 and from 1926 to 2009. It is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and enrolled 1,000 students in 2023.
In 2022, Tiffin City Council elected the city's first female mayor, Dawn Iannantuono, a Democrat, following the resignation of former Mayor Aaron Montz, a Republican. Tiffin University began as a Commercial College, affiliated for 30 years with Heidelberg College, as a financially independent and separate division. It taught the business courses typically found in the popular commercial colleges of the day. After breaking with Heidelberg College in 1917, the institution relocated to downtown Tiffin.
