It was named after the town Paddock Wood in Kent, England. In the early 1900s, Fred Pitts immigrated to the lumberland of Canada. From a log cabin he built there as a home, he set up a post office, collecting letters and parcels on horseback for residents of the settlement. Paddock Wood is a town and civil parish in the borough of Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England, about 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Maidstone. At the 2001 Census it had a population of 8,263, [ 2 ] falling marginally to 8,253 at the 2011 Census. [ 1 ]
