Sprint cars are open-wheel race cars, designed primarily for the purpose of running on short oval or circular dirt or paved tracks. Historically known simply as "big cars," distinguishing them from "midget cars," sprint car racing is popular primarily in the United States and Canada, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.
In 1964 sportsmans were born, they were basically cut down versions of cars from the era, using side-valve Ford engines and steel bodies. Super Modifieds began in the 1970s, which used V8 engines such as the 283 cu in (4,640 cc) Chevy and 272 cu in (4,460 cc) Customline engines. This division soon turned into sprintcars in the mid 70's.
Like sprint cars, supermodifieds do not have starters, batteries, or transmissions, and are push-started. The combination of high power, light weight, and high cornering ability allows supermodifieds to average over 120 mph (190 km/h) on a 1/2-mile oval and 150 mph (240 km/h) on a 1-mile (1.6 km) oval, with top speeds over 190 mph (310 km/h).

Donny Schatz pounced on the high side of turns 3 and 4 on the last lap of the 30-lap feature, pinning Daryn Pittman in lapped traffic to steal his first win of 2019 and 13th of his career at Las Vegas. Schatz led the opening 13 laps of the feature before Pittman got underneath him in turn 2 and led the rest of the way until the final corners.
