Seattle Coffee Works (SCW) is a third-wave coffee company based in Seattle, in the U.S. state of Washington. The business was established in 2006 and operates three coffee shops. In addition to the flagship in downtown Seattle, SCW has outposts in Ballard and South Lake Union, called Ballard Coffee Works and Cascade Coffee Works, respectively.
Most of the state's large enclosed shopping malls developed in the mid-to-late 20th century, beginning with the 1950 opening of Northgate Mall in Seattle. [2] The largest shopping mall in Washington is Southcenter Mall in the southern Seattle suburb of Tukwila , which has 1.7 million square feet (160,000 m 2 ) of retail space.
Starbucks is Seattle's largest coffee retailer. It was founded in 1971 in Pike Place Market as a roaster, but only later became an espresso bar. In 1984 ownership of the company changed and Howard Schultz led a massive international expansion of the company. [13]
Café Hagen focuses on light roasts and has sourced coffee from Cafe Imports, Keffa Coffee, and Red Fox Coffee Merchants. [9] HCR, which Beck founded in 2018, sources coffee from two women-owned farms in Costa Rica and Honduras. [4] HCR has competed in the U.S. Barista Championship (2019, [16] 2024), [17] among other coffee competitions. [18]
