The following May, the band released their debut album, Holy Diver, which featured two hit singles – "Rainbow in the Dark" and "Holy Diver" – that gained popularity, in part from MTV. Dio and Bain played keyboards in the studio, but keyboardist Claude Schnell was recruited for live shows in 1983 prior to the Holy Diver tour.
The album's B-side "Holy Diver", a cover of Dio's first single, was released as the album's third single on August 17, 2007. [20] It peaked at number 12 on the Rock Songs Chart, making it the band's highest charting single. Around the release of the band's debut Holy Diver in May 1983, Claude Schnell joined as Dio's first full-time keyboardist.
