In the 1986 minicomic "The Search for Keldor", Skeletor is implied to be Keldor, King Randor's long-lost brother, as he attempts to stop Prince Adam and Randor from searching for Keldor. According to King Randor, Keldor disappeared years ago after, in his pursuit to master magic, an experiment went wrong and transported him to another dimension.
Somehow, ages later, Hordak became Skeletor's master, despite the dimensional differences. Hordak saves Keldor's life after he is mortally injured battling Randor; in saving his life, Hordak transformed Keldor into Skeletor and told him there would one day be a price to pay for Hordak's assistance.
Skeletor is originally described as an evil being from another dimension and in some later MOTU lore as a disfigured and vengeful relative of the royal family, known as Keldor. [22] [23] From his lair on Snake Mountain, Skeletor would assemble his "Evil Warriors" to assist in his various schemes to conquer Eternia.
Upon Keldor/Skeletor's suggestion, He-Man and Battle Cat head for Snake Mountain to battle Skeletor, leaving Andra, who longs for more action, dissatisfied and thus susceptible to Skeletor's idea of "inoculating and enhancing" the populace of Eternos against the technovirus, thereby placing them all under his control.

He-Man's primary weapon was his sword, but he also used other weapons (such as a laser-gun in the film and the mini-comics, a battle axe, a shield, and other equipment ...
Adam fights Keldor, while the others take on Kronis, Evelyn, and a shadow copy of Battle Cat. After the heroes are victorious, Keldor grows mad to the point where he believes his curse is a blessing in disguise, and tries to gain more Havoc power from the castle, warping his scepter into the Ram-Headed Havoc Staff.
Skeletor has set his sights on the ancient Castle Grayskull, a fortress of mystery and power; whoever controls Grayskull will become Master of the Universe. To prevent Skeletor from achieving his goal, He-Man has received special powers and weapons from the Sorceress and defends the castle from Skeletor.
After Skeletor kills Saurod for failing to capture He-Man and the Cosmic Key, Evil-Lyn tries to convince Skeletor that their talents could still be useful. This stance prompts Skeletor to force her into control of his troops on their second mission to Earth to track down the heroes. She succeeds in capturing the Cosmic Key, but Skeletor once ...
