Michael Geoffrey Skinner (born 27 November 1978) [1] is an English rapper, singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. Best known for the music project the Streets, [2] Skinner has also released music as a solo artist, as part of the D.O.T. with frequent collaborator Rob Harvey, [3] and under the pseudonym The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light.
The Streets is an English musical project led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mike Skinner. The project was founded in the early 90s, while Skinner was still a teenager; however, no music would formally eventuate until the early 2000s.
The Streets released six studio albums, three mixtapes, one EP and thirty-five singles. The first studio album, Original Pirate Material , was released in the United Kingdom on 25 March 2002, and reached number 10 on the UK Albums Chart , managing to be certified as platinum in March 2003. [ 1 ]
This led to the emergency hiring of Michael McDonald, who became the lead singer of the band. Restored to fitness in 1976 and briefly back in the band, Johnston contributed one original song to Takin' It to the Streets ("Turn It Loose"), and also added a vocal cameo to Pat Simmons' tune "Wheels of Fortune".
Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons, Dave Shogren and John Hartman founded the Doobie Brothers in the fall of 1970. [1] After the band released its self-titled debut album and recorded two tracks for 1972's follow-up Toulouse Street, Shogren was replaced by Tiran Porter and Michael Hossack was added as a second drummer in December 1971. Richard Allen Street (October 5, 1942 – February 27, 2013) was an American soul and R&B singer, most notable as a member of Motown vocal group The Temptations from 1971 to 1993. Prior to joining the Temptations, he had been a member of Otis and The Distants in the 50s, a vocal group that was led by Otis Williams .
