It was named Tulsa Municipal Airport when the city acquired it in 1929; [ 4 ] it received its present name in 1963. [ 5 ]

Young in the aftermath assaulted a Tulsa police officer who arrested him for burning the debris. He was fined $300 for the assault and $50 for burning trash. Young suffered a stroke and died at age 67 on February 16, 1985.
