St. Anne's Guest Home was founded in 1945 in Fargo, North Dakota, to address the needs of the elderly and vulnerable in the community. [3] The original facility in Fargo had 20 beds. [3] St. Anne's second location, St. Michael's Hospital and Nurses' Residence, is now on the National Register of Historic Places. [4]
The home was originally owned by John E. and Ruth Hipple, both of whom were prominent Pierre citizens. John served as Pierre's mayor from 1924 to 1939 and owned the Capital Journal, while Ruth was an important figure in the local women's suffrage movement.
