Clarkston (Scots: Clairkstoun, Scottish Gaelic: Baile Chlarc) is a suburban town in East Renfrewshire, in the Central Lowlands of Scotland.A dormitory town with a population of around 10,000, Clarkston is on the southern fringe of the Greater Glasgow conurbation and directly adjoins the neighbouring suburban villages of Busby and Netherlee, as well as the towns of Newton Mearns and Giffnock.

Stamperland is a suburban neighbourhood in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, Scotland. Part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation, it is situated on the west bank of the White Cart Water about 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south of Glasgow city centre, and just outside the city boundary.
In June 2006, Muirend acquired its first ever pub, The Bank bar/restaurant, located in the former Glasgow Savings Bank building on Clarkston Road. There is a sports pavilion available for hire for events (located a few streets into East Renfrewshire); [4] this adjoins Braidholm rugby ground, home to Glasgow Hutchesons Aloysians RFC. [5]
East Renfrewshire forms part of the Renfrewshire lieutenancy. [6] The area that is now East Renfrewshire has been inhabited since prehistoric times. At Dunwan Hill near Eaglesham and at Duncarnock near Newton Mearns there were Iron Age hill forts, both thought to have been occupied between around 1200 BC and 400 AD. [7] [8]

East Renfrewshire Council, the unitary local council, is based in nearby Giffnock and is responsible for local government. For local electoral purposes, Netherlee was formerly a ward electing a single councillor to East Renfrewshire Council, but is now grouped with Clarkston and Busby as a larger multi-member ward electing three councillors. Clarkston railway station is a suburban side platform railway station in the town of Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the East Kilbride branch of the Glasgow South Western Line. It was opened in 1866 by the Busby Railway.
