Located at an altitude of 2,433 metres (7,982 ft), the top of the waterfall is 310 metres (1,020 ft) in width.

The Big Drift is in Glacier National Park , in the U.S. state of Montana and is an area along the Going-to-the-Sun Road where a large amount of winter snow can accumulate to depths of 80 feet (24 m).
