It's unintuitive that the vncconfig program that shows up is necessary for copy and paste. I closed its window thinking, "I don't need to change my settings." Then later I noticed that copy and paste wasn't working and wondered why. Running vncconfig & fixed it for me. –
There is a suggestion in the comments to downgrade the guest additions in order to get the shared clipboard working. Although that may work, I solved this by taking the opposite approach. Unfortunately, if you're dealing with a new version of Virtualbox, full guest support may not quite be available.
You can then paste this by right-clicking in the PuTTY window and it will paste your selection. Ctrl + C/V will not do anything. If you suspect that something has gone wrong, check that your guest is set up correctly and try executing the command. sudo rcvboxadd setup

Yes, copying and pasting is possible. If you're using Windows 10 to remote into the other machine, ensure you are using the app titled "Remote Desktop Connection".
Try to copy and paste from external HD or removable drives, not from your system partition. My setup: VM stored on external HD. Copy paste from internal HD (C:) doesn't work, copy and paste from external HD (E:) will work. I assume C&P is deactivated for the local system partition.
@AlexS in the Windows 10 Creators Update Microsoft did a lot of updates to Hyper-V. Also Ubuntu is working closer now with Microsoft. I know that they fixed the problem with the resolution, maybe they also fixed this. Sometime later I will check this and report back. Other than that I don't know about a solution that is working correctly till now.
