Gluconeogenesis is an ongoing process in the body and not isolated to specific stresses. It is essential to reuse the lactate that accumulates during excercize back into pyruvate and then into glucose.
However, I agree with the broader goal: lose some body fat and gain a little bit of muscle, which requires monitoring my diet and getting my heart rate up at the gym. My diet needs work.
