This is the only blurb from the WSJ that hints at any connection between Sam Ash and Samson/Hartke: "The company’s wholesale business, Samson Technologies, which designs and sells merchandise to other retailers, is its fastest-growing division, generating $33 million in sales last year."
The Sam Ash in Atlanta is so low on inventory, at least for guitars/basses, that they have removed most of the empty hangers from the slat board walls. But employees indicated the lack of inventory was due to pandemic related issues. They seem to have more of an inventory problem than the GCs I've been to in Atlanta, but not overly so.
Anyway, this is very close to 34th street and 9th Avenue, which is where the Sam Ash New York City store was located. Here are a few photos if anyone cares to look. Also, is there any news on Sam Ash ever reopening? I thought I read something about a Mexican company buying their name, and possibly reopening some of their locations. Anyone?
I was in the Sam Ash in NYC about 6-7 years ago and was looking at the basses and started talking to a guy with a white T-shirt and a black leather vest on, he looked familiar, but didn’t give it a second thought at the time. He told me a great story about the Thumb (in the display case) that Jack signed and sent to him.

Mastercard Corporate Headquarters, be ready for the onslaught! Not in the news. This is not a rumor. Inside info. They're announcing in the coming days.
Three years later, Sam Ash opens a store about a mile down the road. All is good, right? No. Sam Ash had an agreement with 7ender, Gibson, Ibanez, and a multitude of the other "most popular" guitar manufacturers that there could be no other sales of those models within 10 miles of their locations.
Well, last week I ordered a Yamaha bass from Sam Ash. I ordered it from there because they had the Teal Blue one I wanted, plus my SamAsh card was empty and they had 24 months financing.
