The Motorola CM550/555 uses the TC9105P pll chip, which can be modded for uppers. See the link from Sonoma above. (Secret CB Vol. 12, page 7.) FYI, the last two Sam's manuals in the cb radio series (#s 292 & 293) weren't called CB Photofacts, but rather were called Sam's CB Radio Service Data.

  3. Never hear much about Motorola - WorldwideDX Radio Forum

Motorola jumped into the CB market about the time it was collapsing under the weight of 17 new channels. Some time around 1977, if memory serves. Motorola never made a 23-channel CB that I'm aware. And the first five years of 40-channel radio sales was handicapped by zillions of 23-channel radios being sold for pennies on the dollar.

  4. rewire Motorola Professional Mic for CB use? - WorldwideDX Radio...

    www.worldwidedx.com/threads/rewire-motorola-professional-mic-for-cb-use.144499

If you figure out how to do this, let me know. Motorola seems to have put a little effort into making their mics incompatible with other equipment. There are three problems with getting this to work on another radio. The mic is powered by the radio. To complicated issues, this power is the current flowing through the closed TX connections.

  9. Motorola 555 ssb base tx issue | WorldwideDX Radio Forum

    www.worldwidedx.com/threads/motorola-555-ssb-base-tx-issue.263631

This radio has me stumped, and every Motorola CB555 I've seen. The radio will give a good carrier on AM and mod on SSB for maybe 10 min, then the RF fades away to nothing. Turn off the radio for 20 mins and it will work for 2-3 mins. This says its heat or cold solder joints.
