Blood pressure is the force that your heart uses to move oxygenated blood from the heart to all areas of the body via the arteries. It is measured in units called millimetres of mercury, or mm Hg. The normal range of blood pressure is considered to be from 90/60 mm Hg to around 120/80 mm Hg - high blood pressure is generally 135/85 mm Hg or more.
Diastolic pressure - the bottom number in a blood pressure reading. It measures the pressure of blood in your arteries when your heart rests between beats. A typical blood pressure reading will be displayed with the top number always above the bottom. A healthy blood pressure reading is typically between 90/60 - 120/80 mmHg.
The systolic pressure is the blood pressure whilst the heart is contracting (pumping), and the diastolic pressure is the blood pressure whilst the heart is relaxing in-between heartbeats. High blood pressure can be: Just a high systolic pressure - for example, 170/70 mm Hg. Just a high diastolic pressure - for example, 120/104 mm Hg.
High blood pressure (hypertension) is a blood pressure that is 140/90 mm Hg or above each time it is taken at the GP surgery, or home or ambulatory readings where the average is more than 135/85 mm Hg. That is, it is sustained at this level. The higher number is called the systolic blood pressure and the lower number is the diastolic blood ...

Blood pressure is recorded as two figures. For example, 140/85 mm Hg. This is said as "140 over 85". Blood pressure is measured in millimetres of mercury (mm Hg). The first (or top) number is your systolic blood pressure. This is the pressure in your arteries when your heart contracts. The second (or bottom) number is your diastolic blood pressure.
If clinic blood pressure is between 140/90 mm Hg and 180/120 mm Hg, offer ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) to confirm the diagnosis of hypertension. If ABPM is unsuitable or the person is unable to tolerate it, offer home blood pressure monitoring (HBPM) to confirm the diagnosis of hypertension.
So I was started on Losartan 25mg. Lately when I’ve been checking my blood pressure at home my diastolic number has been too low. Usually in the 50s. Systolic ranges from 110-130. I don’t know what to do about the problem. I don’t think I’m experiencing any symptoms from it. Is that number too low? Anyway I can bring it up.
I started taking my blood pressure readings after walking or even standing and my blood pressure is high, particularly my diastolic pressure. It's consistently above 90 and I've seen it as high as 121. When I'm lying down, by pressure is pretty consistently 120/80. It's just when I move about. Even sitting in a chair seems to escalate my BP.
