Washington Township is a township in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1789 from Salem Township. At that time, it included the present-day municipalities of Allegheny, Lower Burrell, Upper Burrell, and most of Bell. In 2020, the population of Washington Twp was 6,887. [2]
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 31.1 square miles (80.5 km 2), 31.0 square miles (80.4 km 2) of which is land and 0.1 square mile (0.2 km 2) (0.19%) of which is water. The township is a designated part of Appalachia by the Appalachian Regional Commission.
Within the township, the population was spread out, with 28.4% of residents who were under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 31.1% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males.

The unincorporated communities of Fryburg and Marble are in the southwestern part of the township, along Pennsylvania Route 208. The community of Licking is in the east, also along PA 208, and Newmansville is in the north, along Pennsylvania Route 36. Wolf's Corners is also in the north near the intersection of Rtes. 3001 and 4017.
